When you manage to drag yourself away from the pool the ancient town of Mogliano is just a 15 minute walk away where you’ll find everything you need.
Italy has always been a great holiday destination for families, with the love of bambini. Our Italian villa perfectly suits children of all ages with plenty of toys and inflatables, DVDs and for teenagers a good WiFi connection! 30 minutes will take you to the coast where you’ll find a variety of watersports readily available and plenty of beachfront play equipment for toddlers. Under an hour you can be canoeing on the crystal waters of Lake Fiastra in the Sibillini mountains or even rafting on the rapids for the more adventurous. We’re within walking distance of Mogliano town where you’ll find a good selection of restaurants, pizzerias, bars and a nice children’s park. Eating out is relatively cheap compared to more well known tourist destinations such as Tuscany so you won’t have to break the bank to enjoy a nice family evening out. Other activities locally are horse riding, go karting, tennis and cycle rental. Further afield you’ll find castles, some fun water parks, one of largest cave networks in Europe-the Frasissi caves, the interesting paper museum at Fabriano and much more. If you still have the energy after your daytime activities there are plenty of local evening festivals, perfect for the family.
Why holiday during the school holidays if you don’t have to? Some of the best months to enjoy your self catering holiday in Marche are May, June, September and October with long warm days but without the intense heat of July and August. If you can drag yourselves away from our luxury apartments and swimming pool set in lovingly tendered gardens there’s plenty of things to do. Dean’s famous wine tasting experience is a must during your stay where you’ll get to sample a selection of the local Wines from La Murola vineyard. There’s an endless list of historic buildings, museums and art exhibitions if you want a culture fix. The renaissance city of Urbino is only a 2 hour drive away, well worth the early start, especially if you have a love of Raphael. For music enthusiasts Macerata city, just 20 minutes away hosts the second largest opera festival in the stunning open air Sferisterio or pop along to one of the local villages and enjoy an open air concert at one of the many Jazz and classical music festivals. If you’re a shopaholic you’ll be in heaven with the many Outlet stores such as Hugo Boss and Prada.
You won’t be disappointed. The concept of Slow Food started in Italy in 1986 and is widely disbursed in Marche being a region rich in agriculture with family traditions of long family lunches using local recipes passed down from generation to generation. Centrally located between the Adriatic coast and the Sibillini mountains you’ll enjoy an extensive variety of local cuisine, all at reasonable prices. Food in Le Marche is based around simple cooking using fresh ingredients. In fact most locals continue to shop on a daily basis here and many have their own vegetable gardens and rear their own chickens. Why not do some walking in the Monte Conero, just south of Ancona and reward yourself afterwards with a delicious fresh fish lunch overlooking the sea, or head up into the Sibillinis where you’ll find true mountain delights such as fresh water trout, slow cooked wild boar or delicious hare pasta. Wander round the local markets and choose your fresh produce to prepare a feast in your well equipped self catering apartment washed down with a glass or two of local Rosso Piceno, or enjoy a lazy bbq in our gardens catching one of our many spectacular sunsets.
For those travellers looking for a more energetic get away Le Marche has it all from coastal trails, peaks above 2000m, rolling hills, ancient villages, hidden lakes, flower filled plateaus and woodlands all of which can be enjoyed on foot or bike. The Monte Conero regional natural park on the coast not only offers spectacular views down the Adriatic coast, you also find a good selection of trails for both walkers and cyclists. For those road cyclists preferring a flatter terrain then the main coastal road is ideal with many sections having dedicated cycling lanes. Guided walks and cycle hire are available to discover the beauty of the Sibillini mountains with peaks over 2000m and a wide selection of hiking trails for all levels. The nature reserve of the Abbadia di Fiastra is literally on our doorstep offering plenty of easy walking and cycling through woodlands and countryside. Or you can just simply head off from Caserma Carina and follow the ‘white roads’ through the surrounding countryside and if you’re lucky meet our local residents of hares, foxes, badgers, deer, porcupines and birds of prey circling overhead.
For just a few euros we’ll take you to our local vineyard to sample a selection of the wines produced, accompanied by local meats, cheeses and other appetizers to compliment the wines you choose to taste.
